Which Beauty Face Masks Are Best For Your Skin?

Face masks have quickly become a part of our everyday lives over the past year. In ordser to help curb the spread of COVID-19, we have been asked to do our part by wearing face masks when out in public.

But that’s not the type of face mask we want to talk about. There are a number of resources available regarding those types of face masks. Today we wanted to discuss beauty face masks.

Beauty face masks are a great way to rejuvenate the skin on your face, with little effort. These face masks have been around for decades, but they seem to have gained popularity recently as people are forced to look at themselves more often these days.

With so many different types of beauty face masks out there, which one do you choose? Do different face masks do different things?

Let’s take a look at the different types of beauty face masks available today and which ones are best for your skin.

How Do Beauty Face Masks Work?

Beauty masks are gaining a lot of popularity these days as people are doing more work from home and are forced to look at themselves via their webcams. This has led to an increase in facial plastic surgery and non-surgical rejuvenation. Sometimes surgery, or even a non-surgical procedure, isn’t the right option for everyone. This is where beauty masks come in to play.

Beauty masks offer an alternative to those other options that is less costly and can be done right at home. And while the benefits may not be as great as the other options, they can still keep your skin looking and feeling great.

So How Do Beauty Masks Work?

Beauty face masks are pretty simple in the way that they work. Different face masks have different ingredients in them, which can cause different results, but the main idea behind them is that those ingredients are forced to stay on your face for longer than a traditional cream or lotion.

With a cream or a lotion, after you apply them to your skin, you typically are rinsing them off and moving on. With a face mask, you’re leaving the mask on for anywhere between 10 minutes to overnight, depending on the product you’re using, and the results you’re looking for.

Creams and lotion are great for taking care of the immediate effects of dry skin or itchy skin, but if you’re looking to help prevent things like aging lines, wrinkles, chronic dry skin, etc., then you’ll want to look into something that stays on your face longer.

By staying on your face longer, and being trapped by the mask itself, the active ingredients in the mask are able to be absorbed more by your skin, thus giving it a better chance of working.

That being said, you do have to be careful when choosing the type of mask you want. Depending on the results you’re looking for, not all masks are made equally.

What Are the Different Types of Masks?

There are a number of different beauty face masks out there designed to help with different aspects of skincare. Some are designed to be worn for shorter periods of time, while others are designed to be worn overnight or for hours.

Let’s take a look at a few of the most popular face masks available on the market to better understand which one will work best for you.

1. Cream Masks

Cream masks provide a high level of moisturization and hydration to the skin. These are a great fit for people with normal to dry skin as it can help lock in some of that moisture and keep the skin looking healthy and smoother. If you’re really looking to boost the hydration in your skin, then cream masks are a great choice.

2. Sheet Masks

Sheet masks have become increasingly popular over the last few years. They are an easy, convenient way to cleanse your face. Sheet masks come in a variety of different formulas specifically created for various skin types. So unlike cream masks or clay masks, which are best used on specific skin types, you can find sheet masks in all varieties. They are super easy to use, just apply to your face, let sit for 30+ minutes, and remove. You can even seal in the effects of the mask by applying your favorite moisturizer on top after you remove the mask.

3. Clay Masks

Clay masks are designed to be used with normal to oily skin. These masks are made to naturally detoxify the skin without the use of oils, which is why they are great for people with oily skin. If you are prone to acne, these types of masks can also work great. They will harden on the skin and absorb all of the dirt, oil, and grime that may be accumulating on your face. They can also help to remove blackheads and clean pours.

It is important to note that clay masks tend to have more of a drying affect than other masks, which is why they aren’t recommended for people with already dry skin.

4. Exfoliating Masks

Exfoliating masks can generally be used on all skin types and are another way to help prevent, or reduce, acne. These masks are designed to open up your pours and remove dead skin cells from your face, leaving your restored skin looking amazing. These masks can also be very drying in the way that they work, so be sure to protect the skin afterwards by using your favorite moisturizer.

Beauty Mask Results vs. Non-Surgical Treatments

Beauty face masks are a great way to help protect the face on your skin, reduce oils and acne, as well as prevent your skin from drying out too much. They can help restore that youthful shine and make your skin appear healthier.

In most cases though, these types of masks are not going to be a replacement for non-surgical treatments. Laser and other facial treatments can enhance the skin in ways that these facial creams just can’t do. While the chemicals in these masks are being absorbed into your skin, your skin is naturally built to protect from outside elements, so there is only so much that is being absorbed.

Non-surgical treatments are designed to circumvent some of the natural protections our skin offers in order to rejuvenate the skin. So it’s important to keep your expectations in check.

At the AYA Med Spa, we offer a variety of non-surgical skin treatments that can help rejuvenate your face, remove wrinkles and fine lines, while giving you back that healthy glow you had when you were younger.

We can provide guidance on what skincare treatments will give you the results you desire without having to undergo surgery. For more information, contact us today!

sofwave wrinkle technology

Plastic Surgery Technology – Sofwave for Wrinkles

Technology is the backbone of our society. Computers and high-tech equipment run almost everything that we interact with in our daily live. Not that long ago it would have been considered crazy to tell someone that they would be carrying around a computer in their pocket capable of answering any question they may have, at any moment. Teachers in school always preached the importance of math, because we wouldn’t be walking around with calculators all the time.

As technology continues to advance and enhance our everyday lives, it should come as no surprise that this same advancement of technology is also changing the way we look at plastic surgery.

Things that required surgical procedures in the past now can be done using less invasive, non-surgical, procedures with incredible results. And while non-surgical procedures will never replace surgical ones when it comes to certain things, the technology available now is doing wonders for people around the world.

One such piece of technology that excited about when it comes to treating fine lines and wrinkles is Sofwave.

What is Sofwave?

Sofwave uses a proprietary ultrasound technology known as SUPERB (Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam) to heat the mid-dermal tissue at the right depth and temperature to rejuvenate collagen fibers and improve the appearance of the skin. In other words, it uses ultrasounds to tighten the collagen under the skin to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Sofwave is non-invasive, requires no-needles or injections, and is extremely safe and painless. You’re not injecting anything foreign into your body and you’re seeing similar results to those injectable fillers that you may have used in the past.

Why Use Sofwave Over Injectables or Laser Treatments?

You may be thinking to yourself, why would I use this new technology when I know the outcome of using injectables and fillers or even laser treatments? And that’s a great question.

With injectables and fillers you’re injecting a product into your face in order to help fill in the areas under your skin that are causing the wrinkles. While this process is relatively painless, you’re still being poked with a needle in order to get the desired results.

With laser treatments, you have to be careful depending on your skin type. Different skin colors or types of skin can react differently to the lasers, which can cause unwanted results if you’re not careful. With Sofwave you don’t have to worry about that, it is safe for all skin types.

Sofwave is extremely safe. It does not damage the skin itself and the penetrating ultrasound waves only target the mid-dermal areas in order to help rejuvenate and tighten up the skin that may be causing wrinkles. There is no down time when it comes to the procedure, and it’s extremely quick.

Most patients see results within 12 weeks of a single, 30-40 minute session. The procedure leaves no redness or irritation on the skin, so you can go right back to your normal routine as soon as you walk out of the doctor’s office.

Is Sofwave Right For You?

As with any surgical or non-surgical procedure you need to be the one to determine if it’s right for you. With Sofwave, it has been shown that patients in their mid-30’s to early 50’s usually show the best results after having 1-2 sessions of treatment.

This isn’t to say that younger or older patients can’t receive the treatment, but the results may vary. Everyone is different so you may not see the same results as someone else, but most people report great results when using Sofwave.

This is a great way to help tighten up that lose skin or help reduce wrinkles and fine lines without the need for surgery or needles. It’s quick, painless, and allows you to go about your day immediately after your session.

If you’d like more information on Sofwave please visit their website. If you have questions about skin rejuvenation or non-surgical procedures, please contact us today and we’d be happy to help.

We are always excited about new technological advancements in the world of plastic surgery, whether it be surgical advancements or non-surgical advancements, and the Sofwave is just another great example of something that wasn’t possible just a short time ago but will change thousands of lives moving forward.

We can’t wait to see what the future of non-surgical enhancement brings.

plastic surgery trends 2021

Plastic Surgery Trends Moving into 2021

With 2021 almost upon us we wanted to take a glimpse into the future and talk a little bit about what trends we think we’re going to be seeing as we move into the new year.

2020 was an interesting year in the world. COVID-19 put our lives on hold while we tried to slow the spread of the virus while scientists and researchers raced to create a vaccine. Because of the various stay-at-home orders enacted by governments around the world, more and more people were working from home virtually.

This virtual work environment led to more people looking at their own face, for longer periods of time, than they are used to. And because of this, we saw an uptick in surgical and non-surgical enhancement requests.

After general stay-at-home orders were lifted, and some businesses were allowed to open back up with new safety rules in place, the plastic surgery world saw an uptick in people wanting our services.

Injectable fillers were the most popular during 2020, with breast augmentations, other fillers, liposuction, and abdominoplasty wrapping up the top 5 plastic surgery procedures requested in 2020.

This should come as no surprise, as more people were forced to look at themselves on screens and at home for the better part of the year. So enhancing the physical features that are most noticeable, like your facial features, was extremely popular this year.

As we move into 2021, we expect similar trends to what we saw towards the middle/end of this year, and we also expect to continue to see increased numbers of people wanting surgical and non-surgical procedures.

With the vaccine starting to roll out, and a glimmer of hope on the horizon, we expect people to be booking appointments so that they can look and feel their best once the country begins to open back up later next year.

In addition to that, with a lot of people being nervous about getting procedures done right now, a lot of appointments were postponed and or canceled, so we expect those people to begin coming back into the offices next year.

What We Expect to See From Plastic Surgery in 2021

1. Non-Surgical Injectable Fillers

As the technology improves and non-surgical enhancements become more popular, we expect to continue to see these procedures top the trend lists for next year.

Botox and other injectable fillers will continue to grow in popularity as more people see the benefits of these procedures when compared to a more invasive surgical procedure. With more workplaces offering virtual workplaces, even after the pandemic is over, we could start to see a shift in the overall workplace environment, which could lead to people wanting to enhance their appearance for the cameras.

These non-surgical injectables have been on the rise for years now, but we anticipate their popularity to increase as we move into 2021.

2. Laser Resurfacing and Skin Care

As with the injectable fillers, enhancements to the face are going to be extremely popular going into the new year. Laser resurfacing is a great way to help eliminate blemishes, scarring, and redness from the face, as well as reducing wrinkles. In conjunction with a proper skincare regimen, you can keep your face looking younger and fresher.

There are a variety of skin care products available these days to help improve skin imperfections as well as tighten the skin.

These non-surgical procedures are quick and painless and can have your skin looking great for that next zoom meeting.

3. Skin Tightening, Liposuction, Coolsculpting

While we do believe that procedures involving the face are going to be extremely popular next year, skin tightening, liposuction, and Coolsculpting aren’t going to be far behind.

With everyone getting ready to get out of the house and back out into the world, we’re going to want to look and feel our best.

Liposuction to help reduce fat in certain areas of the body has always been popular, but we expect to see a slight rise in these procedures to the end of the pandemic being in sight.

Coolsculpting can also help “melt” away the fact in problem areas of your body and is totally non-invasive and has been gaining popularity over the last few years.

Whatever people can do to pull in those areas of their body that may have grown a bit during quarantine, or areas they can’t seem to shrink with exercise, is going to be extremely popular as we move into a summer where we may be able to get back to semi-normal lives.

4. Breast Augmentation

While breast augmentation numbers have dropped slightly from previous years, we still believe that they will continue to be as popular as ever.

The techniques for performing breast augmentation surgery have evolved over the years, which has lead to reduced recovery times and less pain, have continued to make this procedure one of the most popular surgical procedures.

And for the same reasons we mentioned above, people are going to want to look and feel their best when they can finally get back out of the house. Not to mention that with parts of the world still under some sort of stay-at-home order, patients can easily recover in their own homes without having to go out in public right away.

Plastic Surgery in 2021

We expect plastic surgery and non-surgical procedures to continue to rise in popularity as we move into 2021. With more offices moving to remote work and people still having to stay home for a little while, we expect facial procedures to lead the pack, with body enhancements right behind them.

If you’re interested in any of these procedures or have more questions about what you can do to enhance how you look and feel, please contact us today. We would be happy to setup a virtual consultation, or an in-person visit if you’re in the Dallas area, to further discuss your surgical and non-surgical needs.

Cheek Jobs – Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Options

With the advancements in plastic surgery techniques and non-surgical procedures over the years, many of the methods that were used in the past are no longer the best option. One of the enhancements that used to benefit most from an implant can now be improved using new non-surgical techniques.

Traditional plastic surgery will never go away entirely, but we’re seeing more and more people opting for non-surgical procedures as we learn more about how they can help patients with cosmetic issues.

One of the surgical procedures of the past that is losing popularity, due to its less invasive methods, is cheek implants.

Cheek implants used to be the go-to method that surgeons preferred when helping to improve cheek structure and remove elements of aging from those areas of the face. But as we learn more about how those implants age, what can go wrong, and figure out better ways to achieve similar results, the days of the cheek implant may be over.

What is a Cheek Implant?

When it comes to plastic surgery and non-surgical procedures, facial enhancements are some of the most popular. Your face is one of the first things that you notice about yourself when looking in a mirror, and it’s the first thing that most people looking at you see. So it’s only natural to want to make your facial appearance look the best it can.

Cheek implants can be used to make your cheek bones more prominent as well as make your cheeks look fuller. They are also a great way to help pull the skin in your mid-face up a bit, helping to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging around the lower jawline and face.

Cheek implants work by implanting a piece of silicone in the cheeks to produce the look that the patient desires. The implant should not leave any scarring as the incisions are usually made inside the mouth or in the lower eyelid.

In the hands of a skilled, experienced surgeon, cheek implants should have no complications and no issues moving forward. They can even be removed and replaced with relative ease as you continue to age and your face changes.

Non-Surgical Cheek Enhancements

As innovation in the world of plastic surgery continues to advance, we’re finding more and more ways to enhance body features without the need for actual surgery. These non-surgical procedures allow for a cheaper, easier option for those that would rather not have more traditional surgery.

Non-surgical procedures are non-invasive and usually require little to no downtime. This is a huge benefit as it doesn’t require time off of work, or time confining yourself to your home while you heal.

And in some cases the results can be seen almost immediately.

Non-surgical cheek augmentations have become very popular in recent years as some doctors move further away from traditional cheek implants. By using injectables, topical creams, and other techniques, surgeons are able to bring life back to those tired cheeks.

Skin tightening, wrinkle reducing, and full cheeks are just some of the things you can expect from non-surgical cheek augmentation, in a fraction of the time that traditional cheek augmentation surgery would take. Not to mention, little to no downtime.

Non-surgical cheek enhancements are a great option if you’re looking for something relatively painless, more affordable, and less invasive than traditional cheek implants.

While there are several options for non-surgical cheek enhancements, injectable fillers are currently the favorite of most surgeons. They do not take much time, are relatively painless, and the patient can return to their normal life without any downtime.

In addition to that, the results from injectables rival those of traditional implants, however less permanent.

Why Choose Non-Surgical Over Cheek Implants?

With both surgical and non-surgical cheek enhancement options available, are there benefits to choose one over the other?

In short, yes. Each type of procedure has its own pros and cons, so it will be up to you to make the ultimate decision, but let’s take a look at both and compare them.

Non-surgical cheek augmentation, or enhancements, are great because they are non-invasive, they require no cutting or incisions. They are also relatively painless and require almost no downtime.

This means that you can have the procedure done during your lunch hour and go right back to work afterwards with no need to go home and rest or take pain medication. This is the main benefit of going with a non-surgical procedure over a traditional cheek implant.

There are some downsides to non-surgical procedures though. In most cases, non-surgical procedures, cheek or otherwise, are not permanent. They will require subsequent doctor visits throughout the year. Some non-surgical results last longer than others, but most will see you returning to the doctor 1-3 times a year, depending on the procedure.

The more traditional method of using cheek implants are usually permanent unless complications arise, which, when done by an experienced/skilled surgeon, usually don’t happen. But with any surgery, there is always a chance.

Cheek implants also require incisions in the face to add the implant, however these incisions are usually made in the inside of the mouth or the lower eyelid to hide any visible scarring.

The other downside is, since it is a traditional surgery, there will be more of a recovery period than if you were to go the non-surgical route.

In most cases with non-surgical, you could be back to your normal routine right after the procedure. However, traditional surgery will require you to rest for about a week before you can return to regular activities.

There are positives and negatives to both methods when it comes to cheek augmentation, so it’s important to know what your needs are and what you expect to get out of the surgery.

If you’re looking for a more permanent solution and aren’t concerned about the recovery period, then traditional cheek augmentation might be better for you. If you’re looking for something less invasive, more cost efficient, and something that is less invasive, then non-surgical treatments may be a better option for you.

buy injectables online

Is it Safe to Buy Injectables, Like Botox, Online?

With the popularity of non-surgical procedures skyrocketing around the world, it was only a matter of time before people tried to circumvent the system.

But what are you willing to risk just to save a few dollars?

Injectable fillers like Botox and Juvederm have become extremely popular for those wanting to turn back the clock on their aging bodies. They have provided a relatively simple and inexpensive way to remove wrinkles in the face as well as lift problem areas they may have loosened up due to the aging process.

Even though this process is simple, usually painless (when performed by a professional), and inexpensive, there are still people out there trying to find a shortcut.

The bottom line is, even though you might be able to find injectable fillers available for cheaper online, please do not buy them in an effort to use on yourself, your friends, or your family.

You Never Know What You’re Getting

The first concern with buying injectable fillers online is that you never know what you’re getting.

The website you order from may seem legit and have, what appears to be, legit reviews and testimonials, but all of that can be easily fabricated. Unless you have the ability to have the product tested in a highly sophisticated medical lab, you’re never going to know what’s truly in the product you’re purchasing.

And this is something that you’re going to be injecting directly into your body!

Too Many Options to Choose From

There are online retailers out there that do provide legitimate product that you can purchase for personal home use, but which do you choose?

We mentioned Juvederm and Botox earlier in this article, but those are just two of the many different brands of cosmetic injectable fillers available. If you have no experience with these products, it’s going to be very difficult to know which one to choose for which application.

You also may have to worry about allergic reactions or your body rejecting certain products. Not knowing exactly what is in the different products can lead to complications that wouldn’t have been an issue had you consulted with a trained medical professional.

You Don’t Know What You’re Doing

Say for a minute we forget the two reasons above as to why you shouldn’t buy dermal fillers for yourself online. The most important reason why you should never be buying these types of products online is that you are not properly trained in how to use them.

Even if you were 100% sure that the product you were buying is the exact same stuff your doctor purchases, that still does not make you qualified to start injecting something into your body.

It’s not a very smart thing to do.

If you think that buying your own injectable fillers online is going to save you some money, you’re going to be pretty upset when it costs even more money to correct the mistakes that you made.

Even if you just want to buy the product yourself to then have your doctor inject, you’d still be better off allowing the doctor to order it as they know exactly what products to order and can oftentimes get them for cheaper than you can online.

If you see a product for a much lower price than what your doctor says they can get it for, you should be cautious. There’s probably a reason that it’s priced that cheaply and you don’t want to find out what that reason is after you’ve already had it injected into your body.

And in most cases, a qualified doctor would never inject anything into a patient that they haven’t personally ordered for their office. You’d never find a doctor who would implant a breast implant you brought in, so why would you expect a doctor to inject Botox into your face that you bring in.

They don’t know what’s in that bottle either, and by injecting it into a patient they run the risk of being at fault when something gets infected or problems start to occur.

Just because you’ve seen a few videos on YouTube about how to use dermal fillers, does not make you qualified to start injecting product into your own face.

Please be smart when it comes to this sort of thing. If you start taking shortcuts, you’ll end up hurting yourself in the end.

The bottom line is, you should always listen to your doctor and the professionals within the medical field when it comes surgical and non-surgical procedures.

The internet is a great tool to help give you guidance, but if you’re not qualified to understand exactly what a study or an article online is talking about, you should always talk to your doctor before moving forward with anything that could potentially harm you.

Injectables are very safe and painless, when done by a properly trained professional. They can still be extremely dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing.

If you have any questions or concerns about non-surgical procedures or injectable dermal fillers, please contact us today to setup a consultation. We’d be happy to discuss the different options available through Dr. Adams Plastic Surgery as well as our AYA Medical Spa, both located in Dallas, TX.
