Celebrity Plastic Surgery Talk – Has Taylor Swift Gotten Plastic Surgery?

Arguably the biggest thing to happen to the NFL this year was Aaron Rodgers going down in his first drive as a New York Jet… The second thing would be Taylor Swift attending NFL games to see her “boyfriend” Travis Kelce.

Having Taylor Swift at any event or location is guaranteed to bring the media attention, whether good or bad. And whether or not you agree with the way the NFL has handled the new relationship, there’s no doubt that she has brought a lot more non-fans into the game of football than any other marketing campaign could have.

That being said, Taylor Swift is no stranger to attention and scrutiny. A star as big as her and as popular as her is going to be pulled through the media and dragged for any possible misstep she makes. But aside from the fact that she’s dated a few guys (which isn’t a misstep in any sense of the word), there haven’t been many, if any, negative aspects to her life that have come out in the media.

However, when it comes to beautiful celebrities who are constantly in the spotlight, there’s always that question about whether they’ve had plastic surgery or not. And since she’s the talk of the town right now, we decided to sit down, as plastic surgeons, and as fans, to talk about whether or not we feel she has any plastic surgery done over the years.

Taylor Swift and Plastic Surgery

As plastic surgeons in a lot of cases we can tell, or have a good idea, when a person has gotten plastic surgery over the years. In some cases, when the surgeon has done a great job, and the patient hasn’t requested to go overboard, it is much harder to tell.

Good plastic surgery should not be obvious while bad plastic surgery is going to be noticeable.

In the case of Taylor Swift, we do NOT believe that she has had any major work done over the years. Her facial structure and overall appearance has not changed drastically since she came onto the scene as a young teenager, and there is nothing obvious that stands out to us in terms of surgical work done on her face.

Is it possible that she’s had some botox or filler work in her face, absolutely, but from her facial appearance alone we do not see any indication of Taylor having any major work done over the years.

Yes, this could always be because she has a great, board-certified, plastic surgeon doing her work, but we’re leaning towards the more obvious answer.

In terms of the rest of her body, that is a little harder to determine. There have been talks over the years of her having a breast augmentation, but if she has, she still has a very natural look that suits her body type.

In our expert opinion, Taylor Swift has not had any major plastic surgery procedures done on her face, but may have had some minor filler work to remove aging lines and things of that nature.

She’s a very natural beauty.

Celebrities and Plastic Surgery

It is not uncommon for celebrities to go under the knife in order to maintain a certain level of beauty or youthfulness that their jobs require. Many celebrities have come out and said that they’ve had plastic surgery, while many others keep that aspect of their lives a secret from the public.

In some cases it can be very obvious when a celebrity has had some work done, but in other cases you’d never know. But the fact that these people are in the public eye and in front of our faces all the time, it’s easier for us to recognize more subtle or drastic changes in their appearance.

Anytime a celebrity comes out looking slightly different than what we recall of them, everyone automatically assumes plastic surgery, but that may not always be the case. People age differently, medical issues can cause changes in the way people look, and just the fact that maybe a person has retreated from the public eye for a while can change our we perceive them in our minds.

Plastic surgery is a great tool when in the hands of a great surgeon, however when in the wrong hands, the results begin to look more unnatural and can be more obvious.

Choosing the right plastic surgeon, one that specializes in the area you want to improve, is extremely important when it comes to the results you will experience.

If you’re thinking about having plastic surgery, please contact us today to setup a consultation. Dr. Adams is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in breast augmentation among other procedures. And if he doesn’t feel that he’s right for your specific needs, he will be able to refer you to other surgeons that he trusts.

safety tips plastic surgery

5 Plastic Surgery Safety Tips Every Woman Should Know

We stress this all the time, the number 1 most important thing to us, when it comes to performing surgical procedures is safety.

Yes, we are also concerned about how you’re going to look and feel after the procedures are done, we want to make sure we properly manage expectations and discuss all the different options available to you. But at the end of the day, or goal is to make sure you are as safe as possible when going under the knife.

There are a number of risk factors to consider when it comes to plastic surgery whether it’s health, lifestyle, body type, current medication, etc. All of these things should be taken into account when a doctor is consulting you on having a surgical procedure of any kind.

Since plastic surgery is typically a voluntary operation, and not necessarily lifesaving, we need to consider more things before undergoing the procedures. If we, as doctors, don’t believe that the rewards outweigh the risks then we may recommend that you opt for a non-surgical procedure or some other kind of alternative solution to your problem.

This isn’t always because we don’t think you’ll benefit from plastic surgery, it’s just because, in our professional opinions, there may be too many risks involved with performing non lifesaving procedures on you due to varying reasons of concern.

How to Find a Qualified Plastic Surgeon

The 5 tips that we’re going to outline below all have to do with finding the right plastic surgeon for the procedure you wish to undergo. While pricing is a concern of a lot of people, finding the cheapest option is not going to be the best option, in most cases.

Just like getting a tattoo, plastic surgery is typically a permanent procedure that you are going to have to deal with for the rest of your life. If you go with the cheapest option, you may end up with less than stellar results after the procedure as well as down the road as your body continues to age.

You wouldn’t go to the cheapest tattoo artist who has done less than 10 tattoos in their life, you would go to the experienced artist who has credibility in the tattoo world, a portfolio of work, and years of experience.

1. Find a True Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon

We can’t stress this enough. Make sure you find a plastic surgeon that is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

If your plastic surgeon is not certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, then you may want to look elsewhere. Just because a doctor tells you they are board certified does not mean that they are board certified from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. There are other boards out there that can certify doctors, but the ABPS requires significantly more in order to become certified.

Being a board certified plastic surgeon requires the following:

  • Medical School Degree
  • 3-5 year residency of general surgery and another 3 years of fellowship.
  • Specialty experience of at least 2 years in the field.
  • Member of the ASPS, ASAPS, or both

The difference between a plastic surgeon and a cosmetic surgeon is that a cosmetic surgeon is only required to complete medical school and have a 1-year fellowship in order to start performing procedures.

2. Find an Expert For Your Needs

The next thing you need to do in order to protect yourself and receive the best care possible is to find a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in the procedure you wish to have.

This means that if you’re looking to have breast augmentation a surgeon like Dr. Adams should be higher on your list than a doctor that typically focuses on rhinoplasty’s or something other than breast augmentation.

Going back to our tattoo analogy, you wouldn’t go to a tattoo artist who specializes in thin line, flower tattoos if you’re going to be getting a realistic portrait tattoo. It just doesn’t make sense.

Find an expert in the specific field of plastic surgery that you’re considering and then make sure they are board certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

3. Look at Society Membership Members

Another great way to find qualified surgeons is to look at the two main plastic surgery societies. The Aesthetic Society and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons only accept members that are board certified from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and also operate in an accredited facility (which we’ll talk about next).

So, if you’re looking for a great starting place when searching for a doctor, these two societies are a great place to look as there are strict requirements for being a member.

4. Operate in an Accredited Facility

While we understand that price is a factor when choosing a plastic surgeon, you want to make sure that your surgeon works out of an accredited facility and not a backroom or sketchy office.

Accredited facilities are actual operating rooms with strict safety and health procedures in place. They are inspected regularly and held to very high standards when it comes to sterilization and cleanliness.

Finding a surgeon who operates out of an accredited facility will help keep you safe from any outside infection or issues that you may run into during or after surgery. They also allow for proper, registered, anesthesiologists to be in the room monitoring you as you undergo the procedure.

5. Do Your Research on The Surgeons

The last thing we recommend that you do, when it comes to plastic surgery safety, is to make sure you visit with a few different doctors before deciding who you’re going to go with.

Setup 3-4 consultations and sit down and talk with the actual doctor. Ask questions about their practice, education, portfolio, and more. You want to be able to get a feel for the doctor and get to know them a little bit before deciding on who is best suited to operate on you.

In the same sense, talking with the doctor also allows the doctor to get to know you and understand exactly what you’re looking to get out of a surgical procedure. It can help them manage results and provide you with a better understanding of how the procedure works and what is realistic.

Safety Should Come First in Plastic Surgery

The main thing you want to remember is that plastic surgery is still surgery, even though it’s cosmetic and voluntary. You want to make sure you’re in the best hands possible and in the safest environment.

Yes, there are many plastic surgeons around the world that will perform some of these procedures for a lot cheaper than you may find in your area, but is the price worth the risk when it comes to your life?

Remember, the skill of a plastic surgeon will make your results better and will also make the healing process less miserable. A skilled plastic surgeon knows the proper way to make incisions and the proper way to manipulate the body in a way that results in less pain and less recovery time.

Doing your research ahead of time and choosing a real board certified plastic surgeon who operates out of an accredited facility, with the proper skillset to ensure your procedure goes as smoothly as possible, may cost a little bit more, but your body will thank you in the end.

5 Things and Procedures We Wouldn’t Do as a Plastic Surgeon

As the plastic surgery industry continues to grow and as technology and procedures advance, a lot of times we get asked the question, “Are there any things or procedures that you wouldn’t do as a plastic surgeon?” And as you grow as a surgeon and gain more experience, you start to realize which procedures have the best outcomes, which produce the best results for our patients, and which ones are most cost effective and produce the best results.

Every surgeon out there, as they gain experience, will tell you that there are certain procedures that they just will not do anymore. This can be for several reasons, whether it’s that they don’t see the results that they like, most patients aren’t happy with the outcomes, or it could just boil down to the fact that the surgeons just don’t like performing them. If you find a plastic surgeon out there that will just do anything that the patient asks, you might want to take a step back and reconsider your surgeon and/or seek out a second opinion.

Plastic surgery is an extensive practice with procedures that span all spectrums of the surgical field, but if you really want to get the best-of-the-best when it comes to plastic surgery, which you should be looking for, seek out a surgeon who specializes in what you’re looking to have done.

Now of course this might not pertain to all plastic surgeries, including non-surgical enhancements, but for complex surgeries like breast augmentation, butt lifts, tummy tucks, and more, it’s important that you find a surgeon that you are comfortable with and understands the intricacies of the procedure that you’re looking to have done.

You probably don’t want to go to a hand surgeon specialist who just so happens to also offer breast lifts, if that’s the procedure you’re seeking out.

Knowing that, let’s look at 5 things and procedures that Dr. Adams and Dr. Rohrich wouldn’t do anymore as seasoned veterans in the plastic surgery world.

Plastic Surgery Procedures We Will No Longer Perform

Thread Lifts

Thread lifts have come and gone over the years, and many plastic surgery offices still offer this procedure to this day. A thread lift is a non-surgical facelift procedure that uses threads under the skin to help pull the skin into place and help to produce collagen.

This is supposed to help reduce wrinkles and help your face look tighter and more youthful, but in our opinion they don’t work very well, they don’t last very long, and can be prone to infection. Not to mention they are quite expensive for what you’re getting.

Foxy Eye Procedure

Have you noticed these days that a lot of celebrities and media personalities have that “cat eye” or “foxy eye” look? You know the one, where the outside corners of the eyes almost appear to be pulled back into more of an exaggerated point than looks natural? In some cases people are getting surgical procedures to permanently have that look.

Don’t do it. You can get a similar look from using make-up and you won’t be stuck with the foxy eye look once the fad goes out of style. This is one of those procedures that does not look natural, and it changes the whole look of your face, and it’s permanent.

Overdone Fillers

This has been an issue for a while now and the patients that have received too much filler stick out in a crowd. There’s nothing wrong with a little botox or fillers to remove aging lines, wrinkles, or to plump up your thin lips or cheek bones, but there’s a way to make it look more natural and a lot of people go too far overboard.

Some of these fillers do not dissolve as easily as others, and this can cause all sorts of problems down the road and make it much harder to return to your original look if you choose to. Fillers should be used in a way that presents the patient with the most natural look possible without reaching the point of no return.

Permanent Fillers

Most fillers used during non-surgical procedures are technically considered temporary. Some of them dissolve on their own over time and some of them can be dissolved using an injectable agent, but there are some fillers out there that are considered permanent.

While there is only one approved permanent filler in the United States, we do not like to use permanent fillers in our patients for a couple reasons. For one, people go overboard, as we mentioned above. They want this plumped lip look or high cheek bones, that just don’t appear natural on them and if we do that, there’s no going back. Secondly, the face is always changing. No matter what procedures you do, surgical or non-surgical, your face is going to continue to age with you and just because your face looked good with permanent fillers at age 40, doesn’t mean that your face will look good with them at age 50 or 60.

Overdone Plastic Surgery

We pride ourselves in the work that we do as plastic surgeons, so we refuse to overdo plastic surgical procedures on anyone, even if they are begging for it. Plastic surgery should be used in a way that creates a natural look that the patient can be happy with for years to come.

We’ve all seen videos and pictures of plastic surgery horror stories from people that get addicted and can’t stop having procedures done, and they look extremely unnatural. Extremely large breast implants don’t look good, especially if you have a smaller, more petite frame. Overdone facial procedures can have you looking completely unnatural and can take a huge toll on your self-esteem as well as your body over time.

There are also many other health complications that can come from overdoing plastic surgery. Tissue can stretch out to the point where it’s no longer fixable, having multiple surgical procedures can take a huge toll on your body and your overall health, and not to mention it can slowly become a true addiction that can be hard to break.

Having a doctor that can help you understand what will look good and what won’t is extremely important in selecting a surgeon. If you’re talking a surgeon who is consistently telling you that they can do whatever you want, then you may want to seek out a new doctor, one that actually has your best interest in mind instead of their own bank account.

Plastic surgery is an art form. It requires precision, skill, and a great understanding of what will look good for certain people and what won’t. It also requires the ability to withdraw yourself from a situation, or communicate with your patient, when you don’t feel that a certain procedure is the right one for them.

Not everyone is going to like hearing no, but in the long run you’ll be a better surgeon and you’ll get more positive feedback from patients that will outweigh all the people you may have to turn away.

5 Best Bras for Implants and Breast Augmentation Recovery

5 Best Bras for Implants and Breast Augmentation Recovery

After investing in enhanced breasts, many women are eager to shop for bras to fit their new shape and aid in recovery. Before making a purchase, there are a few things to consider about wearing bras after breast augmentation surgery.

What You Need to Know About Wearing Bras with Implants

After breast augmentation surgery, your surgeon should give you specific instructions on caring for your breasts as they heal, including when to begin wearing a bra and what type. Some doctors recommend patients go bra-less for a few days after surgery to allow the breasts to heal properly and comfortably. Others recommend specific post-surgical bras to reduce swelling and prevent the implants from shifting during the recovery period.

While recommendations on immediate post-surgical bra selection vary, most agree that women shouldn’t wear a traditional underwire bra until six weeks after the augmentation surgery. Wearing a normal bra too soon can cause problems with the healing process and cause the implants to settle incorrectly.

When it’s time to shop for your augmented breasts, it’s a good idea to visit a store in-person and get re-sized. While you probably asked your surgeon for a particular size, the size of the implant and the size of your bra cup can be different. A professional fitting, free at many lingerie stores and departments, will allow you to shop for the best size for your new breasts.

Even after your fitting, try on a variety of sizes and styles to see what works best. Implants can be wider or fuller than natural breasts, so you may need to size them up to find the most comfortable, flattering fit.

Key Features to Look for in a Recovery Bra

When shopping for a recovery bra, consider the following features:

  • Soft, non-irritating fabric to prevent friction against sensitive incisions.
  • Front-closure or adjustable straps to easily accommodate post-operative swelling.
  • Adequate support without underwire to minimize pressure on the healing breasts.
  • Breathable material to reduce the risk of infection and encourage air circulation.
  • Adjustable hooks and clasps to accommodate changes in breast size during recovery.

Bras for Immediate Post-Op Recovery

Supportive Front-Closure Bras

Front-closure bras are ideal for the immediate post-operative phase. Their easy-on, easy-off design minimizes arm movement, reducing strain on incisions. Look for bras with wide, padded straps and a supportive band for optimal comfort.

Compression Bras with Adjustable Straps

Compression bras provide gentle pressure, reducing swelling and promoting healing. Opt for bras with adjustable straps, as they allow you to customize the fit as your swelling subsides. Seamless, moisture-wicking fabric further enhances comfort.

Bras for Mid-Stage Recovery

Wireless Bras with Molded Cups

As you transition to mid-stage recovery, wireless bras with molded cups offer light support and shaping. Molded cups prevent friction against incisions and provide a smooth silhouette under clothing.

Sports Bras with Moisture-Wicking Fabric

Engaging in light physical activity during mid-stage recovery can be beneficial. Sports bras with moisture-wicking fabric provide support and help manage sweat, keeping you comfortable as you gradually resume your routine.

Bras for Late-Stage Recovery

Lace Overlay Bras for Gentle Support

During the late-stage recovery, lace overlay bras offer gentle support and a feminine touch. Look for bras with soft, stretchy lace that accommodates changes in breast size. The absence of underwire ensures continued comfort.

Bralettes with Removable Padding

Bralettes are perfect for the final stages of recovery when comfort is paramount. Choose bralettes with removable padding, allowing you to customize the level of support. Their soft, breathable fabric minimizes irritation.

Specific Types of Breast Augmentation Recovery Bras

Lipoelastic Bras

Immediately post-surgery, your surgeon may recommend a post-surgical compression bra during the healing process. Lipoelastic bras provide compression to keep the breasts supported after surgery while the breast tissue grows around the implants.

Lipoelastic’s post-operative bras feature specially manufactured fabric that prevents bacterial growth after surgery by wicking sweat, and helps reduce the risk of infection. Compression bras from Lipoelastic can speed the healing process, reduce scarring and bruising, and prevent implants from drooping or shifting unevenly.

Brilliant Contours Bras

Brilliant Contours is a female-owned company on a mission to provide physical and emotional support after breast surgery. Brilliant Contours bras are sports recovery bras that provide soft support in patterns and colors designed to help women feel beautiful during their recovery time. According to the company, the bras can be worn immediately after surgery, and with their comfortable fit and fun fabrics, they can also be used as long-term sports bras.

MaCom Signature Bra

The MaCom Signature bra is a best seller in the post-surgical bra market. The bra is seamless and wireless to avoid irritation to tender, fragile, post-surgery breast tissue. The bra features an adjustable front closure, and the cups are fully expandable to mold to the new post-surgery cup size. The fully expandable cups provide customized stability and compression for the implants as they heal.

The Breast Whisperer Bra

The Breast Whisperer Bra is an anti-gravity bra for women with implants for comfortable nighttime wear. Created by a plastic surgeon and a fashion designer, the Breast Whisperer is seamless and wireless with breathable fabric. Its unique, lightweight design helps lift and maintain shape for women with implants.

Plunge-type bras

If you’re not looking for a bra designed for post-surgical breasts and your surgeon has said you can now wear a bra, you may want to try a plunge bra. Many women need to find a new favorite style of bra once they have implants. Plunge style bras are flattering for breasts that are fuller and firmer, which is ideal for women with implants. They also have shorter underwires than full-coverage styles, which can help provide a better fit after breast augmentation.

The Right Bra is Important for Healing

We hope this list helps you decide the best option for your breasts. Remember, the most important thing you can do to keep your post-surgical breasts safe and comfortable is to follow your surgeon’s instructions. Your surgeon may not want you to wear any bra at all for the first few days of recovery, or may specify a particular bra that should be worn when your breasts are ready.

If you choose to receive a breast augmentation from Dr. Adams, your breasts will be ready to be placed back in the comfort of a bra in no time. As an international authority on breast augmentation, Dr. Adams has implemented several techniques that allow over 99% of his patients to return to normal activities within 24 hours after breast augmentation surgery.
