young plastic surgery

How Young is Too Young When it Comes to Plastic Surgery?

Making the decision to have plastic surgery is something that needs to be taken seriously. You should always consult with family, friends, and doctors before you even consider having any sort of life changing procedure. This is something that is going to affect all aspects of your life moving forward, so it’s extremely important that you’ve discussed all of the options and outcomes before going under the knife.

Even as an adult you shouldn’t rush into a decision like this, but younger people need to be even more careful before they decided to have plastic surgery.

Having plastic surgery while you’re too young and your body is still developing can be detrimental to your overall health and wellness as you continue to age and mature.

However, if body image is leading to self-esteem issues, bullying, or mental health issues, then plastic surgery could help improve those thoughts. But that’s not to say we advocate for minors receiving plastic surgery.

Every person, and every case, is different when it comes to plastic surgery. The procedures are traditionally very similar, but the patients and their bodies are always different. This is why it’s important to always discuss all of the options before making a life changing decision.

Am I Too Young For Plastic Surgery?

Legally speaking, a minor under 18 years of age cannot undergo plastic surgery in the United States without the full written consent from their parents. And a lot of times, depending on what the procedure is, surgeons may not even perform the surgery, even with consent. And there are a few reasons for this.

The main reason is that the body is still developing when a person is that young. Different areas of the body will continue to grow and develop into your mid-20’s, so it is recommended that you wait and see how your body reacts to all of the changes it goes through in your late teens/early 20’s, before you decide to alter it.

Altering your body too early can have a negative affect on how things continue to develop as you get older, not to mention not all surgeries will make you appear the same for your entire life.

If a 16 year old is unhappy with her breast size, and wants to have breast implants, they may be able to just wait a couple years for their breasts to fully develop and not have to worry about having surgery. As the body continues to grow and develop, you really want to make sure that you’re not interfering with things that could happen naturally.

In addition to the physical aspects of having surgery at a young age, there is also the mental aspect of it. Even at the age of 18, you’re not as mature as you may think you are. Yes, technically you are considered an adult and can make your own decisions, and you may think that plastic surgery is the answer that you’re looking for, but there may be another underlying issue at the root of your body image issues.

By waiting until you’re a little older, more developed, and more mature, you can better understand the reasons for wanting to alter your appearance, and better understand the consequences and outcomes of your decision.

Are Any Plastic Surgeries Ok For Younger People?

There are a few circumstances in which surgeons may agree to plastic surgery for people under the age of 18, but these are all dependent on the surgeon.

Rhinoplasty, or a nose job, can sometimes be performed at a younger age because the facial bones stop growing at a certain point, but it’s still not as early as you might think.

In boys the bones can stop growing between 16-17, while in girls it’s usually between 14-15. If a rhinoplasty were to be performed before these facial bones stop growing it could lead to a change in appearance as well as other complications.

A surgeon will still probably tell you to wait until you’re over 18 before getting a nose job, but in some cases, like reconstructive surgery or rhinoplasty to help with breathing (deviated septum, etc.), it may be necessary to perform the procedure at a younger age.

The same goes with otoplasty, or corrective ear surgery. Since the human ear tends to get to its full size rather quickly, an otoplasty can usually be safely performed on most children after the age of 5. Of course, this is all dependent on your surgeon.

Breast reduction in young patients 15 -18 is also common and  life changing for patients.    Patients must be at a stable breast size for   12 months typically before proceeding.

So while there are some plastic surgery procedures that may be helpful and safely performed at younger ages, it will still depend on your surgeon and, of course, parental consent.

As we mentioned above, breast augmentation surgery is not recommended for women under the age of 18. However, breast reduction surgery may be an option at younger ages if it’s causing physical problems.

If you’re under 18 and you’re thinking about having plastic surgery the first thing you should do is discuss it with your parents. Figuring out exactly why you want to alter your body is the first step. You may find that there’s some other underlying cause of your dissatisfaction that can be corrected without resorting to surgery, but it’s always important to talk things through with a parent or doctor first.

The next step would then to be to find a surgeon and setup a consultation so you can discuss exactly what goes into the surgery, what concerns the surgeon might have, and answer any questions you have.

Plastic surgeons get questions like this every single day, so it’s very important to take their advice into consideration before making any drastic moves.

best foods for healthy skin

7 Delicious Foods to Help Promote Healthy Skin

Are you unhappy with your skin? Does it seem like you’ve tried every imaginable beauty product out there to help with wrinkles, dry skin, redness, and other common skin problems? Maybe you’re thinking about the problem all wrong.

Maybe the source of your skin problems is coming from the food you eat, rather than the products you’re using.

Maintaining a healthy body starts with what we put into it. The foods we eat can have both negative and positive impacts on how we look, feel, and act; and that includes our skin.

If you’re looking for ways to improve your skin and bring back that glowing, youthful look you desire, then the first step is to take a look at your diet.

Eating healthy will not only help your skin, but it will also help other areas of your body. Healthy foods packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and proteins can help things like hair, nails, digestion, energy and more.

To really feel good about your body, it all starts with what you put into it.

Let’s take a look at some delicious foods you can work into your diet (if you’re not already) that will help promote healthy skin as well as make you feel better in general.

Great Foods To Help Improve Your Skin

Water

One of, if not the, most important things you can put into your body is water. Consuming enough water on a daily basis helps with all aspects of our bodies including digestions, circulation and absorption. But what about our skin?

Skin is the largest organ in our bodies, and is also made up of cells, which require water in order to thrive. So by drinking enough water each day, we can be sure that our skin cells are fully hydrated and can work to their full potential. This can help with dry, flaky skin, and even help reduce wrinkles.

Citrus Fruit – Lemons, Oranges, Grapefruits

Just like water, citrus fruits can provide a great way to keep your body, and skin cells, hydrated throughout the day. Loaded with potassium, in addition to other antioxidants, citrus fruits like lemons, oranges and grapefruits, can help keep you well hydrated, providing potassium, an electrolyte, that the body needs in order to properly maintain function.

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of beta carotene which is an antioxidant that has been shown to act as a natural sunscreen for your skin.

By protecting your skin from the sun you are helping to keep your skin healthy. Prolonged sun exposure can cause skin cell death, which can lead to flaky and dry skin, as well as wrinkles. Eating sweet potatoes can help you naturally protect your skin from the sun, thus reducing the negative effects that the sun can have.

Salmon

Fatty fish, like salmon, are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, potassium, and vitamin E, all of which are essential for maintaining healthy skin.

Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation which can cause acne and redness, as well as help hydrate the skin to prevent flakiness and dryness.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can also help protect your skin against inflammation and damage. While zinc helps with the production of new cells in your body.

Potassium is an electrolyte that helps keep your body and cells hydrated, which is extremely important for your skin cells.

Eating salmon, and other fatty fish, is a great way to ensure that your body is getting nutrients and vitamins that it needs to maintain healthy skin.

Dark Chocolate

Rich in antioxidants, Dark Chocolate is a delicious, and great way to help improve the look and feel of your skin. The antioxidants found in dark chocolate can help hydrate your skin which will make it feel thicker and less rough and scaly. There have also been studies that have found that eating dark chocolate every day could help your skin be less sensitive to sunburn, which in turn can help the longevity of the skin.

While not nearly as sweet as some of its sugary counterparts, dark chocolate offers up a variety of health benefits that will help your skin looking amazing.

Avocados

We’ve all heard that avocados are full of “healthy fat”, but how can it help with your skin?

Lutein, a carotenoid that helps promote skin elasticity, helps keep your skin moisturized and “springy”, and can keep your skin looking youthful.

Avocados are also full of vitamins C and E which can help protect the cells from damage.

Did you also know that you can use avocados topically to help keep your skin soft and supple. The oils found in avocados are great when applied directly to the skin as a facemask. They can help prevent aging lines and wrinkles, while also helping to moisturize the skin.

So whether you’re eating them, or applying them directly on to your skin, avocados are a great way to help your skin maintain that healthy, youthful look we all desire.

Watermelon

If you’re not a fan of drinking 8 cups of water per day, then watermelon might be the next best thing.

As its name suggests, watermelon is made up of mostly water. Two cups of cubed watermelon equal a full cup of water. So if you’re not into getting your water intake through drinking it, why not try to eat it instead. Not to mention watermelon is also a great source of beta-carotene and vitamin C, which are both antioxidants that can help skin cells stay healthy.

Worst Foods For Skin

While the foods above can help keep your skin healthy and youthful, there are also foods that could have the opposite effects.

Greasy foods can cause clogged pours in your face, which can cause inflammation, redness and acne. In fact, dairy has actually been shown to cause acne as well. So if you’re suffering from redness on your face, or acne breakouts, you may want to consider cutting back on these types of foods.

Alcohol acts as a diuretic which can lead to dehydration. While most people feel the effects of this in the form of a hangover, dehydration means that the cells in your body aren’t receiving enough water, and that includes skin cells. Alcohol also contains sugar, and when your blood sugar levels increase it can cause premature aging from the depletion of collagen.

Processed meats, like bacon or pepperoni, can also cause a breakdown in collagen which can increase signs of aging. Not to mention all of the sodium found in these types of foods can lead to an increase in water retention, which can cause puffiness in your face.

24 hour breast augmentation recovery

How You Can Recover From Breast Augmentation Surgery in 24 Hours

With the summer months fast approaching, everyone is looking to get their bodies ready for the beach.  Although most of the country is still under lock down orders to some extent, that doesn’t mean you can’t take this time to work on yourself.

Working out, exercising, and eating right are great ways to burn calories and help you feel great in that new swimsuit you bought, but exercise and diet can only go so far.

While great at reducing fat and helping to tone your body, those lifestyle changes may not help you fill out that bathing suit the way you want.

Plastic surgery, breast augmentation in particular, is a great way to look and feel your best when you are finally able to get out of the house and enjoy yourself at the beach, near the pool, or just sunbathing in the backyard.

The only problem is, not everyone has the time to lay around in bed for about a week and recover from a traditional breast augmentation surgery.

And that’s why Dr. Adams has developed his revolutionary technique that allows breast augmentation patients to be up and moving again within 24 hours post-surgery.

Recovery Time for Traditional Breast Augmentation

When it comes to traditional breast augmentation surgery the recovery times can vary depending on how you and your body react to the surgery.

In most typical situations, after traditional surgery, you’re going to be in pain for a 1-2 weeks – sometimes longer.   Enough pain that the doctor will usually prescribe narcotic pain killers and advise you that you stay in bed, or at home, and relax until the pain has subsided to the point where you’re comfortable moving around.

Depending on how well you handle the surgery, this part of the process can last anywhere from a few days, to a week for your body to heal to the point where you are able to continue normal, basic, daily functions.

Dr. Adams’ Fast Track 24 Hour Breast Augmentation Recovery

Dr. Adams has refined a revolutionary way to perform breast augmentation surgery that will allow his patients to be able to return to normal daily routines in as little as a few hours after their surgery.

How Does it Work?

Dr. Adams has been invited around the world to educate surgeons and speak about fast track 24 breast on mentation recovery. There is no magic bullet but using the process of breast augmentation Dr. Adams is able to significantly reduce the amount of time it would take for the initial recovery from breast augmentation surgery.

In over 99% of cases, Dr. Adams’ patients have been able to return to normally daily activity within 24 hours of their surgeries. Some patients have even been able to get out of the house comfortably just a few hours after their procedure.

The beauty of the fast track 24-hour breast augmentation recovery is that you can get back to your normal routine almost instantly without being relegated to your bed or relying on powerful pain killers to feel comfortable for a week.

You’ll be back to the grocery store the very same day with very little pain that is completely manageable by over-the-counter pain medication.

Can I Exercise After Breast Augmentation?

While Dr. Adams’ fast track 24-hour breast augmentation recovery will allow patients to return to everyday life within 24 hours of their surgery, there are still some limitations when it comes to exercise.

The purpose of the 24-hour recovery is to help patients return to a normal life as soon as possible, with as little pain as possible. This means going to work, going out with friends, enjoying family time, and more. However, since this is a surgical procedure, it is important that the body fully heals before attempting any more strenuous activities.

Patients are able to get back to aerobic activity 2 weeks after their procedure.   It is very important not to rush back into hard hitting exercise because you want to make sure your body has fully healed, and the implants have fully set in their position so that you don’t cause the implants to move around and position improperly while the tissue is still healing.

Your doctor knows what’s best for you when it comes to the recovery process, so it’s important to listen and be mindful of their advice.

Do Other Doctors Perform Breast Augmentations This Way?

Dr. Adams has been working with, and teaching, other doctors across the world this revolutionary breast augmentation technique, so it is possible that you’ll find another surgeon out there taking the time to make your recovery as smooth and painless as possible, but Dr. Adams is a pioneer in breast education in this field.

If you wish to setup a consultation with Dr. Adams to see how his fast track 24-hour breast augmentation recovery process works, please feel free to contact us or call at 214-965-9885.

We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have about the process.

reasons for breast reduction

5 Reasons Why You Should Consider a Breast Reduction

When it comes to breast augmentation, many people tend to think about implants. However, not all breast surgeries are for enhancements. Sometimes a person needs a breast reduction, which can help alleviate a lot of problems women with large breasts face. A recent study found that breast reduction surgery is one of the most common procedures performed.

Also known as a mammoplasty, this surgical procedure removes excess tissue, fat, and skin from both breasts. Here are five reasons why you should consider a breast reduction.

Why Get Breast Reduction Surgery?

The overall goal of breast reduction surgery is to reduce both the size and weight of the breasts. Many women opt for this procedure because their breasts are not proportionate to their body frame and can lead to many physical and psychological issues that can negatively affect the quality of both their personal and professional lives.

1. Aches and Pains

Women with overly large breasts are all too familiar with the aches and pains that they have to deal with daily. Neck and upper back pain are constantly flaring up and over the counter medications don’t always alleviate the problem. They’re also not recommended as an ideal long-term solution for the potential health issues that they can cause.

The curvature of the spine can also be affected by overly large breasts. This, in turn, affects posture when sitting and standing. For women in the workforce, sitting at a desk in an uncomfortable office chair that offers no spinal support can make them feel like they’ve just run a 26-mile marathon come the end of the day.

2. Self Esteem

Overly large breasts can negatively affect the self-esteem of many women. This especially holds true for teenagers and younger women. Their classmates may tease them, or they may experience social issues during these critical formative years of their lives.

Women who have entered into the workforce can also experience many issues. Large breasts can generate unwanted attention from coworkers in a professional situation. This could lead to people treating them differently and making them feel that their breasts are the center of attention.

Over time, the extra attention can become tiresome and a point of contention for many women. This could potentially lead to issues with forming meaningful professional relationships or cause psychological problems such as depression.

3. Non-Fitting Clothing

For many women with regular sized breasts, finding clothing that fits can be challenging. Even if the top they like is in their size, there’s no guarantee they’ll like the overall fit.

For women with large breasts, it can be extremely challenging—if not impossible—to find a top that will fit them perfectly when their breasts are out of proportion regarding the rest of their body.

This can lead to feelings that you’re being stigmatized by the clothing or fashion industry as you struggle to find something that you feel comfortable wearing. The same also applies to swimsuits and intimate apparel.

4. Exercise is Painful

Many women will use a properly fitted sports bra when they exercise. For women with large breasts, it’s near-impossible to find a bra that can provide the support needed to allow them to exercise.

In a roundabout way, overly large breasts can contribute to a wide range of other health issues due to the lack of exercise. A study by the University of Portsmouth found that large breasts were the fourth biggest barrier to women working out—right behind time, energy, and health.

5. Sleeping Issues

It’s very uncomfortable for women with overly large breasts to sleep on their side or stomach. This forces them to sleep on their backs, which can sometimes lead to nighttime acid reflux and heartburn issues.

Insomnia is also another issue that many women face. They will toss and turn and get a fraction of the daily recommended 8-hours of sleep. This can lead to other health issues and poor performance at work or school.

Breast Reduction Surgery in Dallas

Having overly large breasts is a burden for many women. While they do have their perks, the disadvantages often outweigh the benefits in terms of health and quality of life. If you’re experiencing any one of the above issues due to large breasts, this is an excellent time to consider breast reduction surgery. It can help give you your life back and alleviate many of the problems you face due to your large breasts.
