While COVID-19 is still very much present in the world, this summer is already feeling a little bit more like “normal”. Events and gatherings have all but dropped their restrictions. Masks, while recommended in some areas of the country, are no longer required for things like sporting events and concert. And overall people are starting to come out a bit more.
At this point everyone that wants to get vaccinated has most likely gotten their initial series’ of shots (outside of the younger children). This has allowed more people to venture out without having to worry about getting severely sick.
We here at the office are very excited about getting back out and doing all the things in the Dallas area that we love to do.
Here are some great places to visit, and things to do, in the Dallas area this summer!
Six Flags Over Texas / Hurricane Harbor
The summer was made for amusement parks and there’s none better than our very own Six Flags Over Texas.
Whether you’re looking for heart pounding roller coasters, family friendly rides, restaurants or shops, Six Flags Over Texas is full of fun for the entire family.
Want to enjoy a water park instead of a roller coaster? Six Flags Over Texas also offers up Hurricane Harbor, a extensive waterpark with water slides great for any age group, as well as pools, lounge chairs, and food.
There’s too much to do in a day, so we suggest looking into their season passes so you and your family and friends can go all season long for one low price!
State Fair of Texas
From September 30th through October 23rd, you can enjoy one of the largest state fairs anywhere in the country. For 24 days at the end of the summer, the state fair moves in with activities, events, and fun for the whole family.
Looking for some great food? This year’s fair theme is “Treats of Texas”. There’s sure to be some unique treats that you’ve never heard of and need to try.
And what can be better than food, family, friends, and fun? Live music of course!
The main stage at the festival will be the place to be with acts like Trace Adkins, Ashanti, Fitz & The Tantrums and more! Not to mention 2 other stages with music playing all month.
The Dallas Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum is always a favorite during the summertime. While the scenery is amazing all year round, the summer offers up some great events for families to enjoy.
Every Thursday you can find a different band playing live music throughout the property. You can also find seasonal food demos, movie screenings, Bubble Picnics, and more!
The arboretum is a great place to visit with the whole family. Take advantage of the weather and take in all that the arboretum has to offer!
Dallas Zoo – Dino Safari
If you’re a fan of dinosaurs, then you’re not going to want to miss the Dino Safari at the Dallas Zoo this summer!
Dino Safari let’s you journey back in time to see how some of the largest, most exotic creatures to ever walk the earth, lived. Take the shuttle bus around the property to get a first-hand look at the dinosaurs in their natural habitats.
Dino Safari started on March 4, 2022 and will run through Labor Day. Get your tickets in advance to save some money!
Taste of Dallas
Looking for something other than festival or fair food? The Taste of Dallas kicks off on June 10th, 2022 and brings some of the great Dallas area restaurants together in one place.
This is a great opportunity to sample food from all over Dallas without having to go to each restaurant individually.
This event takes place at the Dallas Market Hall and tickets are on sale now!
Dallas in the Summer
Dallas, Texas is a great place all year round, but we especially love the summertime.
There are plenty of events, fairs, restaurants, rooftop bars, and more to keep you entertained all summer long. Getting outside and enjoying this time together is one of our favorite things to do. And while COVID is still spreading throughout the world, we advise everyone to use their own judgement on whether or not you’re comfortable attending an event.
We hope to see all of the lovely people of Dallas out enjoying the weather this summer!
