As the weather begins to get better and the temperatures begin to climb, that can only mean one thing, summer is just around the corner! And what better way to take advantage of summer in Dallas than by taking advantage of some of the wonderful events and attractions that Dallas has to offer.
This time around we wanted to find some fun and different things that you can do and experience this summer aside from the typical amusement parks, museums, and botanic garden visits.
Sure, those places are great to visit, but that’s what everyone does in the summer. Why not branch out and try something you may have never thought of trying before.
We came up with 5 experiences that we feel most people don’t think about on a regular basis. Things that will get you outside with friends and family to enjoy the weather and the company.
Summer in Dallas, Texas 2023
Sounds of Summer 2023 – Garland, TX
On the northwest side of Dallas you’ll find Garland, Texas. Garland is a great place to visit in general, with it’s beautiful downtown area and its restaurants and shopping, but one of our favorite things to do is enjoy some music in the park during the summer.
Every Friday from May 5th through June 30th you can bring the whole family and listen to some incredible musicians. Music in the park takes place at two different parks throughout the summer, Winters Park and Audubon Park, and features 11+ different musicians and artists playing for your entertainment.
Bring the whole family down to the park on Friday nights this summer for music, food, and entertainment!

Luckily for you Trinity Forest Adventure Park has you covered!
This adventure park consists of a number of high ropes courses and ziplines featuring military-style obstacles, wobble bridges, tight ropes, ladders, cargo nets and more.
You’ll learn how to properly use the equipment and then embark on an incredible adventure that you will never forget.
If you’re looking to add a little adventure to your life this summer, definitely check out Trinity Forest Adventure Park.
The Texas Pool
There’s no better way to beat the summer Dallas heat than by taking a nice relaxing dip in the pool. Thankfully Dallas has a number of different pools and waterparks for you to enjoy. You can head to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor and deal with all the crowds or you can take in some nostalgia and relaxation at the Texas Pool.
Yes, it’s a pool shaped like the great state of Texas.
The Texas Pool is registered as a historic place that has been a staple of the community for over 60 years.
Join us and swim across Texas this summer when the weather gets warm!
One of our favorite things to do on the weekends is check out what new movies are playing. And even though we love the atmosphere that an actual movie theater provides, with its comfortable seating and incredible sound, there’s just something about a drive-in movie that we absolutely love.
This summer, why not take the entire family out to the drive-in to catch a flick!
Pull your car into the lot, turn on the radio, bust out the snacks and popcorn, sit back and enjoy the show.
Drive-ins have slowly faded out over the years, but thankfully the Dallas area is home to two incredible drive-in theaters showing brand new movies.
If you’ve never experienced a movie in a drive-in, it’s something we believe everyone should do at least once in their lives.
