Dr. Adams received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, graduating with honors. He attended Vanderbilt University Medical School where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received the prestigious award for the best graduating clinician. He completed both his general surgery and his plastic surgery residency training in the nationally renowned resident training program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. He also completed an additional year of fellowship in plastic surgery at UT Southwestern. Dr. Adams is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Plastic Surgery Research Council (PSRC), Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS), Texas Society of Plastic Surgery, and the Dallas Society of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Adams is a
national authority on breast implant surgery and related issues. He has
developed a new irrigant for use in clinical breast implant surgery that may
make breast enlargement and breast reconstruction safer. He serves on the
national ultrasound assisted liposuction taskforce and teaches other plastic surgeons the safe and
optimal techniques for ultrasonic liposuction in body contouring surgery. He has published numerous papers and chapters as well as presented multiple plastic surgery lectures on the national level. He is on the Editorial Board of Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery, which is a supplement to the teaching curriculum of plastic surgery training programs in the United States and thirty-eight foreign countries. He is the contributing author for the "Breast Reduction and Breast Lift (Mastopexy)" and "Lip and Cheek Reconstruction" issues. Dr Adams has recently co-edited a 2 volume rhinoplasty textbook with Drs. Rod Rohrich and Jack Gunter, which will serve as one of the classic rhinoplasty texts available. Dr. Adams was presented the Faculty Excellence Award in 2001, and was named Department of Plastic Surgery Clinician of the Year 1998. He was also the recipient of the 1997 Excellence in Research Award and Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Plastic Surgery. His current research interests include breast implants and technology, implant capsular contracture, breast reconstruction, lip augmentation, nasal trauma and rhinoplasty. Dr. Adams' special interests include: cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery (including breast augmentation/enlargement and minimal scar breast lift), rhinoplasty, lip augmentation/enhancement, cosmetic surgery of the face, facial reanimation, body contouring and liposuction including ultrasound assisted lipoplasty.
